The Tea Club

Ryu Sui Ken Opening

The renowned fine art dealer Koichi Yanagi of Yanagi Galleries NYC chose the Hammond Museum to preserve this treasure. In his honor, the tea club associated with the museum named the room in his honor as "Ryu Sui Ken".

By May 2011, the reconstructed tea room was reopened inside the library of the Hammond Mansion where it will continue to share this 16th Century practice of Japanese tea with all peoples and future generations.

The Hammond Museum’s proud mission is to share the timeless beauty, art and spirit of all Eastern traditions inside the context of Western culture today.
