Art Exhibit - Hays Gallery

"Facets"

Susan Manspeizer

ARTIST STATEMENT:

As a woman, I have experienced many emotional phases of my life including child bearing, empty nesting, maturing, and finally losses of loved ones.

My art explores and exemplifies these emotions. For me, life is beautiful, but filled with challenges. It is rich and full of love, but upon closer observation, we become aware of aging and imperfections. My work celebrates the fact that as we mature, we continue to grow, reinvent and transform ourselves.

This exhibition FACETS, includes these themes through my bent wood sculptures.

All of my sculptures are painted wood, manipulated into shapes that express my personal feelings. WOMEN WEEP, is an installation of tear drops, that culminate in a profusion of tears for losses that I have encountered.
